What is a Guardian?

A Guardian is a trained volunteer who accompanies and supports a veteran throughout their Honor Flight. Guardians assist with mobility, help navigate airports and memorials, and ensure each veteran is cared for with dignity and respect.

Guardians are essential to the success of every mission, providing steady support and heartfelt companionship along the way.

Guardian requirements

Guardians play a critical role in supporting our veterans throughout the Honor Flight experience. To ensure a safe and successful mission, all Guardians must meet the following requirements:

  • Be able to lift at least 50 pounds and push a wheelchair for several miles

  • Provide mobility assistance and support throughout the trip

  • Make a minimum $1,000 tax‑deductible donation, covering airfare, lodging, meals, ground transportation, and Honor Flight clothing

  • Attend required training and pre‑flight activities
